Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Data Scientist, Engineer, or Analyst who can integrate into a small team and deliver code across the all prepare-predict-deploy requirements. The ideal candidate can develop complex data analytics projects supporting federal clients and internal research and development efforts. This senior role involves participating in a high-performance team.
Efforts tend to be 75% writing code and 25% customer and team interaction. Both soft-skills and technical-skills are required. A desire for growth, autonomy, and purpose is a must.
As a recognized expert, you may lead teams managing sophisticated data solutions and interact directly with commercial and Government clients at the Division Head level and above. This position is pivotal in driving the success of large-scale IT development, data analytics initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply technical expertise in data analytics and/or IT systems development to support mission-critical business solutions.
- Participate in the full scope of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities, such as documenting business requirements, assisting with design, testing, and deployment.
- Conduct and support data processing efforts, including ingestion, preparation, and preprocessing using SQL and Python.
- Conduct and support analytic analysis efforts, including modeling, validation, and visual presentation of results.
- Conduct and support data understanding efforts including experimental data analysis, metadata analysis, and data quality analysis.
- Conduct and support front end interface development for generative AI systems, machine learning forecasts, and interactive analytical products.
- Lead, as team member, complex data analytics, IT development, and business systems efforts.
- Ensure adherence to applicable cyber security standards, laws, policies, and regulations throughout project execution.
- Develop and maintain advanced data visualizations, analytic reports, data cleansing processes, and technical data analytics solutions.
- Serve as a key liaison with senior government stakeholders, including FM&C leadership and other high-level officials.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, data-informed outcomes.
Education & Certification Requirements
- PhD from an accredited U.S. college or university in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
Required Qualifications
- Twenty (20) + years of progressive, relevant experience in data analytics, IT development, or database management, with at least six (6) years in leadership roles as principal investigator or similar position.
- Demonstrated experience supporting State or Federal Government agencies or large enterprises (1,000+ employees).
- Proven expertise in managing quality assurance and data governance processes.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent knowledge of SDLC, data visualization tools, data management, and analytics methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degrees preferred.
- Proficiency in Python, Postgres, Flask, Airflow, Scikit-learn, & Pandas.
- Understanding of vector databases, semantic search, natural language processing, prompt engineering, and API interfaces.
